About the Artist
I’m Danielle Marais, a Cape Town based artist creating original fine art and illustrations since 2021. My work explores imagined worlds through flowers, objects, animals, and portraits - each piece a vessel for mood, memory, and emotion. A central thread in my art is an exploration of femininity and a delicate connection with nature.I began drawing at an early age, inspired by my father who introduced me to the world of art. While I went on to study drama and theatre at Stellenbosch University, painting remained a quiet constant in my life.Over the years I created murals, painted for friends, and eventually taught design and drama. Teaching reignited my love for visual art and gave me the confidence to pursue it fully.Today, my work blends storytelling, emotion, and aesthetics shaped by theatre, nature, and memory. Each commission I take is an opportunity to capture a special moment, memory, or connection for my clients, creating artwork that is deeply personal and meaningful. Whether it’s a portrait, a whimsical scene, or a custom illustration, I would love to bring your vision to life.
